Backup Everything Before Installing macOS Catalina
Downloading and installing is somehow easy but needs some steps before it. However, before installing, we need to backup everything so if something bad happens we do not need to worry since we’ve backup. Even when you have a backup, we recommend copying it or making a copy of the backup for more caution.
So first you need to do is backup your device completely so your important files are secured. If you want that all of your important files or folders should be backed up, you can use the Time Machine tool to backup without deleting any of your folders.
Connect one external disk you’d like to back up to with a USB cable to your Mac.
On the top left corner of your screen, from Apple icon select System Preferences.
On there, open Time machine.
By clicking on Time Machine you can select the machine for backing up your device. Then it will start working on.
Download macOS Catalina By Signing Up to Apple Beta Program
While macOS Catalina is Apple’s operating system, and it’s still in the beta program, we could download it from Apple’s beta software program. But when it’s released, it will be available through App Store, but for now, we’ll download it from Apple’s website.
Go to the Apple.beta.com website and click “sign up” then enter your Apple ID.
From there, enroll your Mac afterward, scroll down a little bit then click on Download the macOS Public Beta Access Utility.
When the file is downloaded, with clicking twice on it open it and proceed with the simple wizard to completely download. The update size is 5.45GB so it may take a bit longer.

Install macOS Catalina on Mac
After the downloading of Catalina is finished, you’ll see it in the dock or in the applications. However, before that it will automatically appear on the screen. Follow the steps and you will successfully install macOS Catalina in your Mac.
